iCloud Storage Full? Smart Ways to Free Space
Most people don't actually need more iCloud storage. They just need to clean up what's there.

To free iCloud storage, delete old device backups you no longer use, clear large Messages attachments, empty Recently Deleted in Photos, and remove old files from iCloud Drive. Check what is actually consuming space first in Settings under your Apple ID, then iCloud, then Manage Account Storage.
iCloud fills up quietly. Old device backups, screenshot junk, gigabytes of forwarded videos in Messages, and apps you stopped using years ago. Before upgrading your plan, prune.
On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, Manage Account Storage. You'll see exactly what's eating space. Old iPhone backups are the usual culprit — delete any from devices you no longer own.
Messages with attachments can hide tens of gigabytes. In Settings, General, iPhone Storage, tap Messages and review large attachments. Same for Mail — clean out the giant attachments folder.
